i dove Marys place which is in the TOP TEN dives in the world according to Sport diver magazine
i took a grand totall of 595 underwater pics
and also on 100 on the island
all the diving was wall diving which was new to me being a NC wreck diver
and guess what they even tried to set my gear up FOR ME
But i Didnt let them cause i gota know where all my gear is when im under the water
And the boat rides where usually about 10 min but sometimes longer
omg amazing
ask me if you want to know more
awsome diving

Where'd you stay? Who'd you dive with?

We got back two weeks ago from our second trip to Roatan. Planning another trip in May, and a move in late August or early September (my wife wants to go through DMT in Roatan... six months in the sun)

We're going in five days and a little worried about the weather. Websites claim rain on every day. What was it like for you? Does it rain just a few hours a day?

Tips?

THANKS!!!!

floridasungirl,

Don't fret over the weather. It said the same thing before we went two weeks ago. You might get some rain, but you'll get more good weather than bad. Bring sunscreen if you burn easy...

Rain in the Bay Islands?

Sure. Here's the key to the puzzle:

When cold pushes down into Texas and we read about cold shocked Turtles in South Padre, that's the equation that produces a "Norther". These fronts affect Cozumel, Belize and the Bay Islands.

When these cold fronts push down, the Bay Islands can get rainy, the winds blow hard from the North, the waves crash down pretty hard on that side of the island.

Pick your dive locations accordingly at this time of year.

yeah it did rain like once or twice every day and got stormy but then it cleared up and it was really great i hope you have a great trip

I am heading to Bay Island Resort. Do we need something warm at night? Fleece?
Did you have any no-seeums (bugs)

Bugs are everywhere. DEET (wash off before diving) works well. Use 25 - 35%.

As for something warm - my wife brought a long sleeve shirt and used it one night. Then again, she turns blue on pool dives in 78F water temp.

Night temperatures in roatan should be in the low to mid 70's. If that makes you shiver, grab a warm shirt. Most of us consider 73 - 75F to be warm enough without a fleece.

Sounds like you had a great time!

I see you're from W-S area... my brother lives in High Point.
