Actually Doc (and I'll have to go back & look for his e-mail on Roatannet) Gill from RAS said ISL was back flying. Maybe Will or one of the guys in Roatan that post here regularly can confirm this?

They are still grounded. And in Honduras, when you are dealing with the Tax Man, it can get pretty long-winded. If your business accounting shows that you might owe $300 in taxes, they'll say you owe $32,890. I am not exaggerating. It's a local sport, often played at the expense of business development and tourism.

SOSA Airlines has taken a lot of the ticketed passengers, but they are fairly overburdened due to their limited equipment.

This info is from Roatan Charter Air Desk who seamlessly rerouted pre-booked group travelers thru SOSA when Islena was shut down by the Tax Man.

I guess I could be wrong but I figured when Orlando told me Islena was flying again he knew what he was talking about.

I was there last week when the political bru ha ha happened...no worries....locals had a curfew but other than that business as usual....I went to West End for the afternoon on Friday....nothing out of the norm....Coconut Tree Divers were open and doing business....kids swimming and playing...people in the restuarants and bars.. everyone looked happy....

I would go back in a heartbeat today....not to downplay the situation or the US travel advisory but they do tend to go overboard....but they are just covering their :mooner: I hope you go and I know you will have a great time....:)
Ann, it was an awesome week! Thanks again for inviting me along. I miss CCV already and I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could only figure out how to get more time off work! :D

hey just curious about how things are on roatan as of tyhe end of july. Been thefre several times and so so sad about the who mess. anyone that can give me the skinny on things as they stand there for travel?

All is well on the island of Roatan and on the mainland as well right now . Go for your trip and enjoy it and give us all a report when you get back as to what all you saw and did.

I got back from Roatan on Saturday.

There is absolutely nothing on the island that would tell you anything was wrong. There were no protests, no roadblocks, no soldiers in the streets.

There is no political unrest on Roatan. Just lots of great diving! :)

I'm heading to CCV tomorrow with the family (first time diving for my wife and daughters). Anyone stay in Beach House 7? What are the amenities? What else should I know? Thanks in advance for any and all information!
