Hi abenhase,
don't know if your thread is still active? Roatan is really a perfect place for diving and easy reachable by plane.
If you want to stay in a resort with all the comfort, the hotels in West Bay are a good option. They are located directly on the wonderful beach. To recommend is the Bananarama with some rooms, good restaurant and bar and of course the divecentre.
If you want to create your divetrip individual, West End with its Dive Shops, bars and clubs is probably the better choice.
Let me know your requirements of standart / price and i send you a list of places, which are recommended.

A group of us will be staying at CoCo View in a couple of weeks. I can report back if you like. I read a bunch of good stuff about them on SB, so if you do a search, you can find a lot of opinions and information on them.
