Hello all, Leaving Saturday for Roaton. first trip there. Staying at Fantasy Island. How are the boat crews at taking divers to good locations. Any special locations that I need to request to dive. Or things to see or visit. Thanks
Richard

Have not stayed at FI but have stayed at CoCo View next door. Some of the best diving I have done. Request Marys Place and Calvins Crack. But I never had a bad dive there. Have a great trip

Conditions permitting they will have a dive site rotation that they will run so that there are not multiple boats on one site..... It does happen, but you will end up at a certain site on a certain day! Have fun! :D

My information is old (circa 2001). But the week I spent at fantasy Island was the best vacation I ever took. Total diving imersion. We left only left the property (other than by boat) twice. Once for the shark dive and one night to try to go into town for dinner (which was no better then the dinner served at the resort)

The boat crews were very personable and pretty flexible about "letting you do your own thing." The only issue I had is that they set up your gear for you. Not that they aren't competent, I just don't like other people touching my gear.

It's definately not the four seasons (manage your own expectations about the quality of the food and accomodations), but I loved the whole experience.

I agree. These are two good sites. I don't have my log book with me but I'm pretty sure there is a dive site called Bear's Den that I really liked. There is a tunnel like area that you swim through and it leads to a big opening that you turn around in and swim out.

Don't know how FI is but CoCo View and Bay Island Beach Resort were great with my preference for Bay Island Beach Resort.

My favorites were Valley of the Kings and Mary's place. But the best part about Mary's place isn't the swim through... It's the surrounding reef and the top of the reef! It,s probably the nicest I saw there... If I ever go back to Mary,s place, I'm going to skip the swimm through and just stay on top of the reef for the whole dive...

Most of the sites are all very very nice! Instead of asking to go to particular sites (which the DM might not be able to do for you, unless the whole boat wants a specific site), ask him to find you particular creatures! Ask Marco (if he is your DM) to find you a frogfish... They are his favorites, although pretty rare around there according to him...

Have fun!:coffee:

They no longer set up your gear for you, so if that is an issue for you it's not a concern.

Fantasy Island doesn't go to Bears Den...that's on the North side. Anthony's Key visits that dive site on a regular basis

Talk to Robert when you get there and go to the orientation and ask him to put you with Darren.......they don't let you select the sites, but generally each boat will make during the week one trip to Mary's Place. Calvins Crack is at the far east end of the Island and you really have to press to get them to take you there....if all the divers on the boat request it they will usually accomodate. Have Fun
