On a side note...were his his wife and kids there? I hope not...but maybe it would be better that way.

His wife and kids were on Holiday in a fairly isolated spot in Tasmania (the little Island on the South East of australia)
He may have made his share of mistakes in life, an dI wa shardly a fan, but credit where credit is due - he did wonderful things for conservation and also tourism in this country. thanks to him, thousands of Aussie schoolkids (and children all over the world) know what do do in the event of snake/spider bites, and also to show nature the respect it deserves.

Such a loss for ev'ryone who cares not just for the environment but also for all its inhabitants, men and animals alike. My condolences to his family.
