I am travelling to PR and staying at the Rincon Beach Resort the first week in April with friends. Some divers and some non-divers. I was just wonder if anyone here had any experience with the hotel or area (restaurant recommendations too). I am planning on doing some diving and would love to get to Desechos and Mona islands if possible. Also interested in surfing lessons. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You’re in my hood buddy.

RBR is a resort property with restaurant, pool and swim up bar with a big sandy beach and lounge chairs... you know the kind of place. Very comfortable.

Rincon is a great vacation destination and you might check out trip advisor for restaurant advice I do have my own faves but it depends on what you like.

The surfing takes place on the northern side of Rincon about 15 minutes from where you will be staying... check out Rincon Surf and Board for lessons.

For diving the only ticket to Desecheo is with Taino Divers... I drive their boat. You should make reservations in advance as your trip is during Holy Week and it will be popping. It’s a great trip with healthy reefs, comfortable recreational limits and very clear water... also great for snorkelers.

Other recommendations for diving. For shore diving contact Technicaldivingpr... hey wanna try out a rebreather?

In the south about an hour away is Parguera Divers who do a great trip out to the wall. Say hey to Angel for me.

Mona is a tough nut. In April the weather can be nice or less so. The shop that did the Mona on a regular basis run went out of business last year... so it’s tough to get there.

Good luck and welcome.
