This is a twenty minute speech about rebreathers, Ichthyology (study of fish and as such makes you a fish nerd? and the hazards he has encountered.

One thing perhaps missing from this is Richard's speech is his own modesty as to his accomplishments.
He has consistently dove in seriously deep water (well over two hundred feet) to collect new fish specimens; traveled to remote (and I mean Borneo remote) locations to collect fish. Richard has written articles about IWR (In water recompression) and Hawaiian spear fisherman, developed multiple types of deep open circuit dive systems and deep closed circuit systems for his dives and even at 300 Plus feet chases fish around coral fans to collect specimens.

He has even been known for such U-tube movies as
Hypothermia Induced Tourettes Syndrome- - it's cold down here.
As well as performances in the Howard Hall movie Ťoral Reef Adventures.

Well, without further a due here is the link to TED.

Thanks for sharing that video :)

Aloha, Tim

Thanks for providing the link. Interesting discussion (for biologists, or folks conversant in academic language) and terrific primer on ECCR technology coupled with practical application. Also, interesting to see how CCR diving technique has evolved over the years with regards to cleaning up configuration and swimming technique.
