My husband and I are going to be staying in Narragansett for a week and are interested in doing 3-4 days of diving. From looking at the dive shops websites, it seems like charters pretty much only go out Saturdays and Sundays. Are there any dive shops that go out during the week in the summer?

If you drive up to Gloucester in Mass., Cape Anne Divers
If you prefer to stay local, then Canned Air will go out during the week provided someone books the whole boat and fills it. For Canned Air, what I do is I call Captain Wayne and tell him where and when I want to go. He gives me the price for for six divers. I then fill the boat with my buddies and with folks here on Scubaboard. Last time I did this it filled pretty quick. (Collect money up front though.)

Yeah, sadly the weekday charter options in RI are pretty thin. Try talking to Giant Stride Dive Shop in Warwick. One of his Instructors (John) runs a smaller charter boat and might be able to book with just two people mid-week. I have no idea what his availability is or how much it would charge, but it's worth a call. Make sure to talk to either Red or John.

The other issue with RI diving is that it seems like 90% of the charters go to the U-853 which is a great dive, but its not one I'd recommend unless you've got a bit of deep cold water experience.

another good option could be to call Diver's Cove in Essex, CT. They are just getting setup with a private charter out of Pt. Judith in RI. Home Not really sure on trip details but when I was talking with Ed the owner, he mentioned the new charter and that they would be open for running mid-week trips, and would be going to almost any site in the general area, even including runs out near Long Isl. Great people, so feel free to give them a call and ask for info.

Yes, and when you need more divers for the boat, post here. We'll help you fill it. I'm off on quite a few weekdays.

We spent a weekend in RI last fall and enjoyed the shore diving.
