RIP. I’ve done this dive, relatively easy, wish there was more detail on what happened: heart attack or what. There were three others with him but viz can be very short.
 
Not much detail available...other than a post in the NE scuba FB group by someone who knew the diver and apparently was on the boat. Quote was as follows regarding the news article:

"Not much of that story is true except for the fact that he passed away. He was not lost during the dive and surfaced OK. There were always eyes on him. That's all I'm going to say about it"

Very sad.
