I bore very quickly of posts from those who have no experience in a paticular subject.

I wonder why they feel compelled to post about something they know nothing about or have only heard about...

Where did this come from? Many new scubaboard members are posting about something they know nothing about or have only heard about! They are seeking information to help them make up their minds.

The kid is 20 years old and looking for a good trade. I think its great he comes here looking for advice from those that have the experience. I am just glad there are some here that post helpful information as well.

That is the price of having an open forum. Faced with the choice of an open forum or a static information database, I prefer the open forum. Even posts that are pure drivel contain some interesting ideas.

In my limited experience, the addition of fish oil to the diet improves the attention span. You may wish to try it.

Thanks for the suggestion Don, I have not remembered to take my vitamins the last few days (if I am not mistaken that fish oil can help memory as well though)

My comments were not at all directed at the individual who started the thread.

As Don points out this is an open forum and the interaction is a format I prefer very much over a static database as well...

The initial comment was the product of several threads in as many days that rapidly filled with comments that offered no answers, experience, and did not ask another question.

I think drivel is a good description...

I am with you on this man. I can't count the number of times or the level of annoyance at this sort of thing. Someone will post a legitimate question, and someone else will post "I have no info about that, but . . . " Sometimes I want to post a nasty "Then why the hell did you respond if you have nothing to add?" but then I would be as worthless as they are. I support your rant and I feel your pain.

I don't know (or care) what post triggered this thread, but I suspect it was more of a final straw than tremendous anger towards any one in-duh-vidual.

We just need to work on our patience.

Yeah, I am just sorry I posted the comments within another thread but glad I could split it out to whine and cheeze.

I do not visit all the forum areas regularly but see this pattern often in the medical and decompression areas as well.

Specific subjects that trigger a negative reaction from me include comments or advice about commercial or military diving from folks that have done neither...

Since this is the whine and cheeze forum I am not to fond of the folks pretending to be something they are not either, again especially when they misrepresent themselves as military or commercial divers but they never seem to remain around the board very long either...
 
FYI, SB will be adding an article section to the site in the near future which is the perfect place to share your experienced opinions/ knowledge in a more convincing manner. The forum is perfect for the exchange of ideas but sometimes that means hearing from people you do not want to hear from... keep an open mind and realize there are people from all sorts of levels, all of whom you can learn something from... even if it is what not to do ;)

No one is asking for some sort of degree in diving but if you know nothing about a subject how do you suppose you are going to help someone else who asked a question about it?

You need to understand as well not everyone is making an effort to help, regardless of dive training level. Some are posting comments that are in no way related to the question and end up being just more chaff to wade through...
