Just a few questions for anyone who has stayed at these condos.

Has anyone stayed here?

What's your opinion of the facility?

What was the cost of taxi ride to town?

Just booked a 10 night stay at this facility. We have stayed at many differnet locations on the island but we prefer a southern location since my wife and I prefer to dive the southern dive sites. The drive to town is less important than the very short boat rides.

Seems to be quite a place. With The Reef Club right next door, the AI option that is avialable to condo units is also nice but we would never use it since some of our favorite eating establishments anywhere are on Coz.

Thanks in advance

There is still construction going on at the site. The units are very nice but if you are in one of the newer buildings you may still have some issues with punch list items from construction ie, leaks in the plumbing, ac suspect, exterior painting going on, etc. I think they are still working on 3 buildings. The pool and beach are nice. The first 3 buildings are complete and there should be no trouble there. All construction stops by 7 pm so evenings are quiet.

Buy food in town for breakfast and lunch then mabe find others to share a cab and go to town for dinner. The reef club has been having trouble since xmas with either a stomach virus or food prep problems. They won't even admit there is a problem but I've been there 2 times since jan15 and large amounts of guest getting sick. In feb apple vacations had a whole plane full of people all staying at thee reef and over 100 got sick, they refunded $100 to each person for their trouble.

$15 cab ride each way to town

Thanks Lou. We are in Bld 1 right on the beach so the const. issues wont be present. I made sure of that prior to booking. Bummer on the food problem but we wont be eating there anyway. With the price of taxis to town, this will be one of the few times I rent a jeep. Yes, we always buy food for breakfast and lunch at Chedraue(sp) Thanks again.

We stayed in Building 1 (second floor - one bedroom. can't remember the unit number). These were absolutely awesome. Pool was nice.. beach was right there.. and San Fransisco Beach Club was very close.

We rent cars when we go, so I don't now what the taxi fare was... Renting a car can be very reasonable if you look around.. I think there were a few threads on it last week.

We were able to get picked up at the Reef Club or at San Franscisco Beach ... not really right in front of the condos..

Pool was nice..

If you have any specific questions shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to try to talk about it.

finding a good deal on a rental car will be easy. Due to the time of year, I will not make a reservation and bargin with a few in person.

Loudives,

Interesting on the stomach virus at the Reef Club. We just returned from a week there and my son said his stomach was upset on Tuesday. Wednesday he was fine (we dove Palancar Horseshoe and Pasa Cedral) but felt ill again on Friday (we returned to the states on Thursday). There was 7 in our group and he was the only one that felt even close to ill. Well, not exactly true. I had a little headache one morning but that wasn't from the food ;) We all ate pretty much the same things so not sure what he would have picked up.

This has definitely been a problem, no doubt.

Full disclosure: I am not affiliated or employed in any way by Reef Club or it's affiliates. I do not have a partnership with them and do not receive any commissions or kick-backs from them. With all of that said:

In Reef CLub's defense, the problem does SEEM to be under control. I have had two groups of 5 to 9 people respectively stay there over the past month. NONE reported any illnesses and all ate at the hotel regularly.

I was also diving on a Sand Dollar boat two Sundays ago (yes for fun :) and I had a great time BTW) with a handful of Reef Club guests, and none reported any illnesses.

Finally, I have spoken on two different occasions recently to two differnet management employees that steps HAVE been taken to resolve the problem. Medical officials and helath department officials were brought in from Mexico City to assess the problem and deal with it. It was in fact determined to be a virus. They are also taking measures to improve food preparation, handling and storage.

Unfortunately, the nature of eating buffet food in a resort always requires some risk acceptance.

The property looks great and the new section looks beautiful for what it's worth.

I just wanted to report that at least they have acknowledged the problem and have/are taking steps to ensure the health and safety of the guests.

Hands, soap, water...:skull: :flush:

No joke but I think thats true just about anywhere. I just dont understand why anyone would do an AI on Coz when there are SO MANY wonderful places to eat. You can eat very inexpensively if your willing to put forth the effort to do some investigation on your own. With that said, there are also some very nice places if prices dont bother you. One of my all time favorites still has to be Zacharias Special at El Morro. Really cant wait to see our friend Ray.

I usually eat at Especias twice on any given trip to Cozumel (just to visit with Adrian and kibbitz over there), and in no other restaurant more than once for lunch or dinner...this is not counting the breakfast at Casa Mex (which I do every day before morning dives...but not omelettes or anything like that)...I like Z's S at El Morro too...La Cocay has also become a favorite.
