After lots or research, and quotes from online stores, I made it over to my LDS today and purchased my first BCD, Reg, and computer. I have only done a few pool classes, and decided I want to finish my training in the gear i'm going to do my OW in. I picked up a Scubapro Knighthawk w/air2, MK17/250V reg, Aladin Tech 2g computer. I'm very excited for next mondays pool session now.

Great equipment and congrats. If it was me, I would loose the air2 and get an octo (SP R295). I would also get a SPG , how do you know what gas is left, or do you have the console and not the wrist DC?. I love your reg!

Great choices... The Air2 will do you fine. Don't be pressured with the Air2 vs Octo crap.
both work, its just a matter of personal choice....

Thanks for the extra suggestions, I have a Pinnacle 5mm wetsuit already for pool sessions and warm water dives. I will be eventually getting a dry suit, after I do my cold water OW cert. My OW test will be in Valdez, Alaska. The computer is a console, and not a watch, so it has the SPG.

x2. Use what you feel comfortable with. I'm new to diving as well and run a Mk17/A700 & AirII set up with no problem.

Enjoy!

Excellent selection on the first go round. Few are so lucky!

The KnightHawk is a great purchase - great all-round BC with enough flexibility to keep you diving for a while.

Nice choices, I second AJ's advice on the AIR2 an Octo would be a better way to go, an AIR2 limits your options in an OOA situation and moving forward the octo allows you much more flexibility in gear changes. Something to consider is that in an OOA situation it adds to the task loading in a stressful situation when you are controlling your bouyancy with the same reg you are trying to breath off and at the same time you are controlling the OOA diver who may be very stressed. Also in normal diving your "safe second" is being dragged around in all kinds of muck and silt. If you haven't got it wet yet I would swap it out.
