Just returned from 3 days of diving with La Parguera Divers in La Parguera, Puerto Rico. We had an excellent experience there. Angel is the dive shop owner, and he runs a beautiful boat. They are located right on the grounds of Posada Porlamar guesthouse, and you can get a package including your room and your dives on the Pargueradivers website. We did 3 days of 2-tank diving. The first dive of each day was a wall dive to 80 or 90 feet, then the second was a reef dive, generally in the 60 foot range. They offer nitrox, and we took advantage of 30% tanks to extend our bottom time. I was very confident in Angel and his divemasters, and Robby was particularly good at finding sealife that we would have missed. We were lucky enough to see a 9 foot Manta Ray and an 11 foot nurse shark on our dives, along with very healthy coral growth, sea fans, sponges and good tropical fish variety despite some overfishing of the larger game species in the area. We were well cared-for on the dives, and can whole-heartedly recommend Parguera Divers as the premier dive shop in the area. If you are travelling to La Parguera, don't miss the nightly trip to the bioluminescent bay.....millions of microscopic organisms light up when disturbed creating a shower of stars underwater. Spend the $25 and go there with Paradise Scuba...they offer a boat ride out, an hour to snorkel in the bay (the other cheap trips just boat you out there and you can't get in the water.....completely missing the whole point of the trip which is to shoot sparks off your fingers underwater!) and some of Luis' wife's excellent empanadillas for snacking. We did not dive with Paradise, only this snorkel trip.

Please see our website at http://drewvogel.com, go to the Gallery, and select Vacations, then Puerto Rico to see all our above and below water photos of the hotel, the boat, the dives and the general area. I will reply to emails sent to wendy@drewvogel.com if you have questions or are planning a trip there.

Enjoy!

I dove with Paradise Scuba in June this year. They are another great shop in La Parguera, PR. The boat was excellent and since we only had our small group of 3 on the boat. We really got to dive how we wanted.
While not a big fan of snorkeling (would rather dive) I agree the nightly snorkel trip to bioluminescent bay with them is not to be missed. I loved the family feel of the crew.
And homemade Puerto Rican food is never to be missed.

I was told that Angel and his crew at La Parguera Divers are wonderful. Got this information while visiting the dive shop on Fort Lewis. I did visit the shop and was very impressed.

I would dive with either shop. Both run a top level operation. And the diving is fabulous.
