Gary and I got our sorry butts out of bed at 3:45 am this morning for a dive at Old Garden Beach that began around 6am.

Tide was near low, coming in. It was raining lightly which made for a very comfortable donning of the gear.

There were stripers (fish...not strippers) all over the place that seemed to be very interested in our activities. I looked up once to find a striper no more than 2 or 3 feet in front of me. I think they were hoping for a free meal.

We caught one small bug...he should make a nice salad. :)

The facts:
Water temperature was about 57 degrees. We spent 68 minutes under with a maximum depth of 16 fsw. Vis was ok, but not great for that site.

Proof that we were there:
Aaron at OGB

maybe we should have taken a picture next to the gauge to prove that this little guy was legal!

Don't I look pretty in my new TJ Softwear fleece undergarment?

I was very comfortable in the 57 degree water, but the thermocline (which we barely hit the top of) dropped quite a bit and I was a bit chilled. I think I'm going to have Janice make a vest for me, or maybe just wear my fleece pullover.

Why a 6am dive? Part of the reason was that the bigger lobsters wouldn't have gotten back into their holes yet, but the best reason is, "Why not?"

It was a great way to start the morning, and now I feel motivated to actually do some work.

O.K..I find that very hard to believe....no one works on Friday

Anyway...when are you guys going to catch something for dinner...that is like salad bug number 2 isn't it??? ;)

he he....I'm jealous more than anything else...I only wish I could just drive down the street, dive to catch dinner, head to work, then go home....oh well,

I'm not commenting on the undergarment....

Dude, I can think of a mirriad reasons for "why not." The most obvious begins with S and ends with P. With an L and two Es in the middle. 3:45 is when you go to bed, not when you get up. You and Gary need someone to set you guys straight...

Lobster salad for breakfast might be nice, though... :D

I've tried and given up. It's just not worth the aggravation to set them straight.

True, true... Especially when one has to get up at an ungodly hour to do so.

well we were going to go out last night but my cable guy did not come until later and finished up too late for me to get a fill, drive to rockport...., so I just got a fill and we decided to do a early dive. It was not too bad, check in at 3:00 to see if I am still awake.

Soggy,

Just Dam Sexy man. Was it warm enough? and why a 6am dive?
Eric

finally, we all agree on something. There are morning people, and there are evening people and well there is Jeff.

sorry to agree, but yes it is. We have not been able to find the big ass lobsters. also why we tried an early dive. maybe they were as sleepy as us.
