i agree with you i wear size 13 and event with the XL my boot was like your photo.
 
Bungee straps on all my fins now. Only way to go.
i did try that didn't work out for some reason i assume the bungee i had was not the right kind.
 
I replaced my RK3 springs with Diverite, but used the Hollis rubber bits. I used the Hollis springs on the dive rites as they were an inch longer and made it a lot easier to put on. The Hollis xxl springs were about 2 inch’s longer then the Apeks super springs, made my size 12 dry suit boots too loose.

Bungees are infinitely re-sizeable. You just shorten or lengthen the bungee cords until it’s perfectly snug but not too tight. Just avoid the imitation bungees sold by manufacturers like Mares.
