I am switching my wife’s setup to a console Shearwater Peregrine with an SPG and just removed her SPG from her old console boot. When I removed the gauge from the hose I found some corrosion on the SPG threads and going into the unit itself. I see no sign of water in the unit itself, but would this concern you enough to replace the unit?

Replace the spool and it should be good as an SPG. But it may not fit in the boot with the Shearwater. I see that the Shearwater console already has an SPG in it. Not all SPG's will fit. You could clean up the threads on that, put a little tribolube on it and keep it as a back up.
