Renting full wetsuit in COZ

Hello, I am looking for a shop that has full 3mm wetsuits for rent when we are there starting on the 7th. We are staying at SCC but they only have shortys. Any help is appreciated.

AFAIK, most places that rent wetsuits only rent them to their customers. I'd try and pick one up in Canada and bring it down with you. Probably a better selection anyways as far as fit goes. BARE wetsuits can be brought in pretty much in a day or two if necessary.

Our Dive Op (Tres Pelicanos) rents full 3MM suits for those who dive with them. You mentioned that you are "staying" at SCC but that doesn't mean you have to dive with them unless you booked a package. Personally, a Dive op that doesn't have full 3MM suits for rent in all sizes is not a op I'd want to dive with. Afterall, peak season in Coz is right now and most everyone dives with 3MM full suits now and year-round. If they skimp on the suits and only offer shorties when for a few bucks more they could have full suits for rent year-round I can only imagine what else they skimp on.

I should have been more clear that we are diving 3 days with SCC on a package.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, everyone is - but I can tell you that very few shops here have a full inventory of full wetsuits for rent - not because they are skimping, but because full wetsuits are much harder to fit than shortys - so keeping a full inventory of multiples of various sizes for men and women is not as practical as shorty's which are more than enough for 10 months out of the year here and are much easier to fit. Wetsuits are considered a personal item - so to ensure proper fit, I always recommend that people bring their own - same with fins and masks - although we have them available.

With that said we have about a dozen full suits in our rental inventory - but the fit can't be guaranteed - because sizes vary so much from manufacturer to manufacturer - especially in full suits.

To make the jump that a shop should be avoided if they don't have full suits for rent is an outrageous remark in my opinion.

To answer the original poster, as MMM said - I'm not aware of any shops that will rent to you unless you are diving with them. Scuba Repair does not rent wetsuits to my knowledge.

Christi is right on. WE do have some full wet suits (probably more than most shops) but expecting a decent fit is unlikely.

Scuba Repair advertises that they rent shipment including wetsuits:

"Scuba equipment rental.
BCDs, Regulators with or without computer, Octopus, Computers, Masks, Fins & Snorkels, Wet Suits and Lights."

As to size, type and selection it would be a good idea to contact them.

FYI I keep plugging CSR because it is really nice to have a full service repair and equipment shop on the island, plus they are really nine people.

And I agree the optimum is to have your own wetsuit not only to ensure proper fit but think about what has almost certainly (basically guaranteed) to have happened in the suit by previous rentors.
