Yep, I can certainly touch the back of my head OK -- but the manifold isolator handwheel isn't there. It does not hit the back of my head when horizontal looking forward even though it is rotated into the forward position (i.e. it points the same way the din valve openings point).

So perhaps Soggy is right and I have it all too low. However, the HP100 worthingtons are very short tanks, and if I move them too high up I'm going to be heads down in terms of trim I think.

I'd first start off making sure your backplate and harness is sized correctly. Put on your harness and backplate (with no wing). You should be able to touch the top of your backplate up to about the first knuckle of your index and middle fingers. The biggest problem when people can't reach their valves is that their harnesses are not sized correctly. I'm not a fan of these slob knobs. I'd be afraid that I'd get it confused/tangled up with another hose or accidently strangle myself. I can tilt my head back and fit it in between the regulators and hit the isolator valve.

Soggy's diagnosis was a good one. Just went down and put on my doubles to further assess the problem. Eureka! - if I keep my head tilted back I can hit the valve with my head, then reach it if I stay in that position. I can also reach the right hand post using the same technique -- left one I can only just touch (so need to use the stretching exercises a bit more and I'll be there). Thanks to all of you guys for your insights.

If you start doing head stands add a tail weight (assuming you have some ballast you can move around)

Here's one example http://www.deepseasupply.com/page24.html

That was my issue. I have the tank SO FAR BACK to maintain my trim that I just can't reach it correctly. That and 3 surgeries on the right shoulder, 5 on the right hand and 2 on the left hand. I need all the help I can muster! :D

Ouch NetDoc, with that many injuries and surgeries perhaps you are really NetPatient. The DeepSeaSupply weight pouch looks useful for the trim issue.

my biggest problem was reaching the side knobs, the middle was ok...easier to reach back and touch the back of your head then find the knob.....on the other hand the side ones were a ******!

exercises helped a bit (although I would love to see that book you mentioned simontripp) but what I did is I loosened my waist strap ever so slightly, gave a bit more slack in the crotch strap and when it came to S-drills I used one hand to lift the tanks while grabbing the valve with the other, this slight adjustment made all the diff.

I have seen some divers tie a rope to the tank neck and use that to pull the tank forward for them to reach it (the rope was neatly tucked away or clipped to the chest ring to limit confusion)

Glad it worked out for you!

I'm not sure I understand. Do you have your harness very loose and thus the tanks are very far down your back? Can you bend your head back and hit the isolator with the back of your head?
