Not since I had some old UK lights with C-cells modded to a Cree LED have I had reliability.

My last two D710 Orcas lasted about 75 dives or so. The latest failed last week - intermittent working, then on or flashing on/off, or on but uselessly dim. Battery seems ok.

I’m just looking for something to use occasionally during day dives, and on night dives. Looking for more than 2 years or about 150 dives.

Thanks.

I’ve not seen any problems with any D710’s but you may want to look at the DGX light, $89 uses the 21700 battery, Stewart’s did a review some months back.

Interesting... I am glad I am not the only one that has had issues with the Orcatorch lights. I know everyone raves about them but I have had 3 fail as well. I really really wanted to like there lights but have kind of given up on Orcatorch due to so many failures. But I will say they have been very good about replacing them. Make sure you email them about your D710's and they will replace them for free.

For reliable budget lights I will also put in another for DGX. I have some that are 5+ years old and still working great. I also have had really good luck with Big Blue and Gralmarine (currently my go to backup lights for cave diving)

Have a look at Light & Motion Solas - compact and very bright.

Light and motion makes a good light, but once the battery goes, you have to get rid of the light.

You could try getting couple torches from Alibaba. I have some backup cave torches from Mexico that I’m certain are on Alibaba for USD 30 max but I haven’t had enough time to test couple sellers.
