Because anything that can be done should be done somewhere by someone!

Alternate air sources are not needed at 15 feet. It is safer to just resurface.
One true risk remains though: it is harder to rescue an unconscious diver who does not wear a BCD.
This small risk is not much different from the risk people take getting drunk in a bar.
The righteous will disagree, hence posted in dork diving :p

Diving without ...
Love this! Love diving simple gear!

You know, if you BM your cylinder using an old-school, blow-molded, plastic backpack with a simple harness, then your gear will still be almost as minimal as you show here, and your hands will be unoccupied.

Also, if you wear your snorkel on your mask, then every time you come to the surface you can switch to snorkel power without missing a beat.

Nicely done,
rx7diver

P.S.: In summer in MO/AR, you'll encounter the first thermoclne at about 20 ffw, and you'll very quickly wish you were wearing a 2mm jumpsuit!

How's about a backpack on the chest, what about strapping a tank to a scooter
joining some long hoses together park the scooter and go free willy on hookah

I just wanted to come up with legitimate reason No 3 for the long hose outside
a cave and drills

Ha you really think someone is going to come diving with you looking like that

Ha yes another Dork Diver, like me

I've done similar, but made a sling out of an old luggage strap because I couldn't be bothered to hold the cylinder and I always have to fiddle/invent things :)

21 degrees and no wetsuit (or drysuit). I see you're Finish, so that makes sense 🥶

I love the idea, but I still need somewhere to stash that 30 lbs of lead.

Great idea. I have access to one...

You don’t even need a blow moulded back pack, just a length of webbing, a buckle, and handful of D-rings and keepers, and a couple cam bands. You can rig up a tank harness in nothing flat and dive total minimalist. Or get a basket harness.
Long live minimalism!

I use one of the blow molded back plates on my rescue harness, but for that I don't have to sink, so no weight. Plastic plate, AL40 tank with a single reg and second, and some webbing is tolerable for all-day wear.
