Ok, that is pretty much what I figured and what I do. I immediately go to backup and then sort it out. My biggest issue is that i really can't 'feel' a hose very well against my suit due to the level of gloves and exposure protection we wear here.

Another question for you folks: when do you clip off your primary to your chest d-ring? Is it just for storage and when you are breathing a stage?

You can find the hose behind your neck (its one of the 2 back there, the other one is your backup in your mouth)

Yes when you are breathing a stage the long hose is clipped off. Its also clipped off getting in and out of the water - assuming it doesn't need to be in your mouth for a boat entry etc.

What is the longhose primary reg recovery drill?

I've wondered what the best way of finding your reg if it gets knocked out of your mouth since I switched to longhose.

Thanks!

If you are wearing it DIR/GUE/NAUI Tech Style routed under a canister light and wrapped around your neck It should just be hanging there. If you dont see it or feel it then switch to necklace reg under and chin and follow the hose out with your hands till you find it.

Im not DIR/GUE but I wear my in this configuration.

Good Luck

Yeah, by the time gets behind your neck there's only a little bit left to dangle. It can theoretically get over your shoulder but in practice it doesn't happen.

What happens when someone needs your primary and it's clipped off?

Donate whatever's in your mouth - its breathable. Switch to your backup. Address the situation by either switching them to your primary (most likely), or giving them the stag/deco bottle they are now breathing from (possible but less commmon).
