A group from the dive shop I used recently did an ice diving course in a cold place with ice and snow. It involved cutting through 2 feet of ice to reach real cold freshwater.

The only divers that did not have free flow incidents used Scubapro Mk25 1st stages and G250 or S600 2nd stages. All regulators were specifically tuned to be used for the environment.

And yes, your cold water rated Mk25 1st stage plus appropriate 2nd stage will work well beyond your needs in warm water as well.

I'd be more interested in what were the models that free flowed. Since it was a group from one dive shop I'd guess that limited the Makes and Models used.
Not that the Scubapro MK25 isn't a fine reg but there are others from other Manufacturers which are well known for there cold water performance some more expensive and some less. In any list of cold water regs there are a couple of Sherwood models that could be considered and Models from Oceanic.
My personal choice for a cold water reg is the Oceanic Delta 4 FDX10 and I believe there is quite a bit of independant testing that shows this as both one of the most reliable cold water reg and a top breather.
