There are many diaphragm 1st stages that are not environmentally sealed.
Very true. And keep in mind that unless you have a specific need for diving an environmentally sealed first stage, it's not that big of a deal. For the most part, when it boils down to the average diver's need/use it's nothing more than hype on the manufacturer's part attempting to convince the consumer to spend more on their reg. Whether sealed or an open ambient design first stage water never touches the breathing chamber or your air. In only enters the balancing chamber of your 1st stage.
