Good morning. I am in the process of wanting to invest in my first regulator. Can anyone give me some advice on
the Genesis GS2000 regulator versus the Cressi-Sub XS2/AC2 Piston Regulator . Which would be a better buy? Thanks.

I would suggest doing a search on these regs in the forums (I did one on the GS2000 and came up with over 100 threads, why build a wheel if it has been done already). As far as individual equipment goes, you will find it is a very personal matter. Some people love a particular piece of gear or manufacturer, other people will hate it. Good luck!

Don't really know anything about either regs but in general, you should consider how easy it is to get maintenance for either brand (as well as other brands) in your area and any place you travel. For what it's worth, a good friend of mine who runs a large scuba repair op tells me they at times have problems getting parts for Cressi regs.

I don't think I'd buy either of them. I've taken apart the genesis reg, and it's a pain to service; you need a special tool to test the schrader valve in the first stage, and overall it is not nearly as well built as scubapro regs IMO.

There are lots of excellent low cost regs out there that are super reliable and a breeze to get serviced in a variety of locations. Two that come to mind would be the SP MK2/R190 and the aqualung titan. Zeagle envoy is another that gets mentioned alot.

As Mattboy says the Genesis needs a special tool which is a hassle if you do your own servicing or intend travelling internationally with it, but probably not important if you take it into a local shop who deals with it.

Internationally, Cressi is far more available and a lot more shops deal with it than Genesis which as far I have seen is very weak internationally, so if travel is your aim, go Cressi. If you just dive locally either will be fine.
