All,

I purchased a new regulator, but the not happy with how it came assembled. I have an atomic regulator which has 2HP and 7LP, where one of he LP ports is on the neck. I would like to know if it's just best to remove second stage from the neck port and move it to a side port and if this is something I can do.

Is a regulator assembly something the average joe can do or should I take it to my LDS?

Please see the attached photo.

Thank you all I advance!

I have 2 Atomic's, I think the reg hose is in the bottom port so it packs nicely in the box. If your not comfortable with removing a plug and swapping it with the LP hose by all means take it back to your LDS and discuss routing and placement with them.

Thanks! Is it at simple as I think it is? Open wrench to remove hose and allen to remove port plug? Should there be any lubricant applied? @linedog

no @ lubrication... and yes it is as simple as that...

just be careful when tightening... hand tighten and then just a bit more with the wrench...

if you have a torque wrench, use it. I tighten the hoses on my apeks regs to 40 inch pounds, I'm guessing those regs wouldn't be much different, but better yet, it wouldn't be hard to find out for sure from Atomic.

Totally off topic, but what the heck would you need 7 lp ports for?

That is how Atomic makes it. 7lp or 5lp on a swivel lol!

Ditto...And route the hoses any way you want....When you see how easy it is (and how comfortable it can be w/MiFlex hoses) you can experiment w/ports, hose lengths and mouth pieces, to the point you won't even notice you're using a reg........

I switched my Atomic regs from the end port too...couldn't get them to route nicely. I switched to a braided hose just for the length, but the Atomic swivel is pretty good too (I have it on my occy :-) )
A tip I heard somewhere is to hold the wrench by the neck ("choke" it) rather than using the full length for leverage...helps to prevent overtightening.

Dave.

I don't think you're intended to use all of them at the same time...

That bottom LP port is nice for a dry suit inflator hose.
