It is ironic that the Kirby-Morgan SuperFlow second stage Scuba regulators, which has been tested to 1600', is an unbalanced design.

Far too many people believe that a balanced second stage is the only way to achieve optimum performance. The reality is it allows the diaphragm size to reduce and still deliver equal performance.

Each person should ponder this question: Is the lowest possible inhalation resistance over all tank pressures more important than reliability to overall safety? All regulators are pretty darn reliable, but the more complex a mechanism is the less likely it will perform reliably over time.
