Our local instructor recently made a 235 foot deep sink hole dive using an Oceanic Delta regulator. He could have used any type he wanted (and is a HOG dealer), but selected the Delta.

As for that "recession buster" package, the Alpha is a real good warm water regulator. Plenty of air, but I have not had it below 140 feet. My daughter likes hers. But... I would not get that computer. A nitrox computer only costs a little more, and Nitrox is one of the first new things divers learn to use.

Stu.

Im looking for something that will LAST

Most regs will last you for as long as you dive as long as you take care of it. Also there is generally no difference in the build quality either. The difference is in the ease of breathing and the features.

Second hand market is quite limited around here, but I actually found an MK10/G250 for a reasonable price :) Thanks for the tip!

If the MK10/G250 is in good shape, grab on to it and forget about the rest. You'll be a happy diver for a long long time!

The Halo is just a rebranded Scubapro reg - look at them side by side and its obvious!! I think its a G250V.

Of course if you feel the need to display your labels in fine Gucci fashion then go right ahead! :stirpot:

:wink::wink:

I'm also in the process of getting my own gear after a couple of bad experiences with renting.
I'd like to hear other more advanced diver's opinion on this kit:
Oceanic Recession Buster Package
Im looking for something that will LAST...all of my diving takes place in warm tropical waters.
thanks in advance!

I dive warm waters to but after a lot of reading on SB I went a different route with my gear and bypassed buying a jacket bc on favour of a BP/W combo. I have never regreted that decision at all but to each there own and you would probably be really happy with that Oceanic combo. I second the other comment about getting a nitrox capable computer - even if you're not going to go that route now, by not buying a nitrox capable now it'll mean more $$'s later.

In that price range I reckon this is worth a look though:

HOG singles combo with regs

Add a computer, pressure gauge and you're set. Would be worth upgrading the regs to HOG ones as well for minor $$'s

I have dove SP regs for over 20 years, and I now have one HOG reg on a stage bottle, and it breaths GREAT. My new doubles setup will be all HOG and I will keep the SP for my single tank rig.

HOGS are unbeatable regs, lots of tech guys are using them, they are half the price of others, and you can buy rebuid kits yourself, so you can have someone do your service or learn to do it yourself.

Call Mike at dive right in, they have the lowest price HOGs that I have been able to find, and the service is good. I am sure they can help you with international shipping.

I agree with the above completely and Mike at dive right in Scuba shipped my HOG regs to me here in Australia quickly and with zero problems - highly recommended!
