Hi everyone! I am new to ScubaBoard and just started diving again after about a 5-year hiatus and so far I have not been so lucky! After about my first 10 dives back my new little labrador pup decided to chew up my old reg. :11: I had a nice Scubapro MK20/D400 setup. My MK20 looks pretty bad now and my D400 is destroyed. So, now I have been trying to decide which reg to purchase. The problem is that I really loved my setup and I know Scubapro does not make the D400 any longer.

I have been looking at the following:

1) Scubapro MK17/X650 or S600 or MK25/X650
2) Oceanic FDX10/Delta 4
3) Zeagle Flathead ZX VI
4) AquaLung Legend LX ACD

Does anyone have any familiarity with these systems and could provide some recommendations? I would be forever grateful for any help. Oh, by the way, most of my diving is in Monterey, CA and in tropical waters.

Thanks!!!

Personally, Scubapro MK17 and MK25 would certainly be on top among the choices you listed. MK17 will have the advantage over MK25 if there are chances you are going to dive in cold water as well. As for the second stage, I might simply go with the larger G250hp.

Scubapro is coming out with a new MK19 first stage and G250V second. To me, the MK19 looks and sounds like a mix-breed of MK17 and MK25. A MK17 diaphram system with a MK25 mechanical features (LP ports on turrets and etc.).

Aqualung Legend series is also a good reg setup. Haven't tried them personally but heard anything but good things about them.

MK/17 S600 is an awesome combo. Thats what both myself and my wife use and love em

I think you can't go wrong with any of those, all great regs. Personally I'm partial to Zeagle, but all 4 of those would be good choices.

I doubt if your dog could do any serious damage to your Mk20. The rubber and plastic bits are cosmetic and cheaply replaced. Although SP has dropped production of the D400, repair parts should still be available. Take both to a good shop & ask them to give you estimates for the repair of each. If they can't economically repair the D400 then spend some time looking at a replacement.

How about a Zeagle DSIV with DX second stage on a 7ft hose and Mares Proton on a necklace for 235.00 plus shipping?

Just PM me for more info.

from your list, i'd go with either Scubapro reg or the Zeagle

Well, my dog (70 lbs pup) literally chewed my D400 into small little pieces - absolutely nothing left! But my MK20 might be salvagable - it found it in the mud and it looks like he was dragging it and dropping it on the concrete. So, at this point I really do need a new 2nd stage at a minimum and I have a feeling that the repair/cleaning of the MK20 will be alot - but I have taken it to my LDS for an estimate. -- AND, I already have 2 CATS, 2 labs, and a snake!

I agree with AWAP, I don't think the MK20 would be irrepairably harmed, though it might need a good cleaning. Can you post a picture of it? Does your MK20 have a yoke or a DIN fitting? If its DIN, I could see the handwheel getting chewed up, but that can be replaced for less than $50.
