Hello,

Nothing wrong with mail order or ordering stuff from people a distance away. The problem comes in with the yearly service. To maintain warranty status you need the annual service.

:D Thanks for all the advice on regs i am going with the MK25 S600 after testing the abyss and maximus found this to be the best breath am going to use the 380 as the octo.

Thanks again

"I'll e-mail you with a guy's addy that I deal with who has the best prices I've ever seen on Apeks regs. "

Will you email it to me as well Mike? I am interested in some more info.

Blacknet,

I think there is a huge amount of difference in the regs, and if that justifies price itis personal preference. I don't like the TX50 because I think it is the biggest reg I have ever seen. I have never tried one, but I have heard of lots of jaw fatigue from it.

There are some worthwhile features with the atx series.

I haven't had a particular problem with jaw fatigue with either the TX50 or TX100 second (pretty much identical anyway) for dives up to 2hrs long in actual cold water -- not the panzy 60F being talked about here either :D. That being said, if I were going to buy a reg combo I would (and will) buy the lighter ATX200 second, and the DS4 first. I wouldn't spend the money on the ATX200 first stage.

Let me know when you are willing to sell that "old, worn out, badly maintained" TX50, Yooper. I might be able to give you a fair price for it.....say $50??????

Don't you have to survive to break a record?

I prefer the Apeks 200

Many folks are giving you good adivce here. Both regs you metnioned should give you good, reliable service and a long life. Although I have no "hands-on" experience with the Mares, I have heard good things about it.
If you are going to be diving off England you will need all the coldwater protection you can get. Between the two you mentioned, I would go with the Scubapro and see if an environmental kit is available for the first stage. If you're going to end up in England, parts and service 'over there' would be my primary concern. Considering this geography, I would have to consider the Apeks line, (practically the same as the old Zeagles which are a phenominal reg). They are a tough, reliable, high- performance reg that is coldwater ready straight from the box and service and parts should be a breeze in the UK.
