Hey Jay, welcome to the board. Tons of good info on assorted regs, but it comes down to price range, serviceability, type of diving you do now and plan to get into.

A good starting point is going to your Local shop and seeing what they carry (and what they can service). Not a lot of other info on your profile about what you want to do, so hard to comment.

As far as brands, everyone has personal preferences. Talk to people who are active divers in your area, talk to clubs/ dive teams... There are a lot of really good regs out there from assorted manufacturers.
 
generally speaking, you can't go wrong with a regulator from Apeks, Atomic, Poseidon, Scubapro and Zeagle

then there are some solid regulators from Mares, Dive Rite, and Aqualung

i would pick a regulator based on service: you need a shop near you who will do maintenance and repairs.
