I am looking into buying another reg and I am starting to look ahead into going tech. Probably not for another six months to a year, but I want to buy a reg that will be useable for tech. I currently dive the Aqua lung Legend and am looking at the Apeks XTX 50, ATX 100 or 200. What are your suggestion? Right now I am leaning towards the 50.

There seem to be a ton of people diving the 50's in tech environments :)

I have the older rebadged Apeks regs that Zeagle sold and they breath well. From what I am told and read the ATX-100's and 200's are not significantly better than the ATX-50's and really not worth the price difference. I have no first hand experience on the 100's or 200's so I can't confirm. Mine are 50/40.

Scubapro is another brand you may be interested in with many people saying the G250/MK17 is the sweet spot for price/performance. Any authorized Scubapro dealer can order that combination and it will save you some money over the G250/MK25.

Lastly, I hear the Legend you are using is a very good performing regulator and is underated by the tech crowd. So I would recommend you test out any reg first to see if it is a big improvement.

I use a Salvo SR-1, its an inexpensive good breathing simple reg. I currently have 3 sets of Slavos and Im getting a 4th soon. I have dived with the ATX-50 and 200 too though. To me the 50 breathed better than the 200. It could have been the particular set i was on though. It seems like a ton people really love the 200, but the price it on up there. As far as Zeagle, i have not heard anything bad about them. My suggestion is to get matching regs, it makes home servicing that much more easy. You only need to learn one first stage and one second. Lastly I went with 300bar DIN for obvious reasons. All the tech divers I know use DIN. Those are my thoughts, but you gotta go with what works for you.

What is a good price on the XTX 50? And by the way AMS I love my Legend!!!! I had all my gear stolen a few months ago and the legend is one of two pieces of gear that I rebought.....everthing else was different.

Im not sure about new prices for Apex, I live in Japan and every thing cost a little more here. But my buddies have had some good luck with used Apex over at Thedecostop. Thier gear exchange always seems to have a nice flow of used 50`s and 200`s.

Apeks ATX 200 is the best choice, good performance balance regs

Hi! I was in a similar position a few months back, lookin' for regs. Check out the old threads and there'll be a ton of comments about all sorts of regs.

I ended up with a pair of Apeks ATX50/DS4 and a Poseidon Jetstream/Cyklon combo. Was eyeing the XTX, but it felt heavy in the mouth, and in the pocket.

Happy shopping! Dive Safe! :D
