Your question, and the responses just shows that, contrary to popular belief, DIR is NOT a static system and can evolve.

Thank you for once again proving the superiority of the DIR system.

Good one!

I saw a guy one time doing all kinds of tricks on a dive. Later I asked him what in the world he was doing. He told me he was having trouble getting his reel off his butt ring and that he needed more practice. Of course I had to ask why he wouldn't just put it some place where he could reach it.

I think a little more evolution is still needed. LOL

Really though it's a good system but if you need others to decide where you should carry your reels I think you should stay out of a cave. What if they change their mind while you're on a dive and you don't find out about it til it's too late?

I know of a guy who has a cave 2 card. Recently he mentioned that he was thinking of taking the class again to find out what's changed. Formal training is the beginning not the end and IMO taking the same class over and over is anything but progress.

BIG BUMP! ROFL:D

"Formal training is the BEGINNING, not the END." Sounds very "Zen", but is nonetheless very true! Mind if I quote you?

If anyone REALLY cares that much about what George might or might not do, just email him. Why ask someone other than George what George is doing?

Just a pleasant reminder that users found creating sockpuppets will have their butts banned from ScubaBoard, reels clipped off there or not.

Let's see...sockpuppets...butts...reels clipped where? What the heck IS going on out there where you are, Scubaroo? ROFL:D =-)

UGGHHH!!!! Not another GI blind devotee! Wear it wherever it works best for YOU!! If GI gets mad, tell him where to shove his reel! Free your mind and your ass will follow. ZG:)

DIR, and GI3 as the mouth of DIR, have had some pretty darned solid reasons why things went where. I haven't always found their way to be the easiest but the logic is solid.

I admit I'm one who hates stuff clipped off to my buttring because I have a helluva time unclipping things there, and look like I'm just enjoying playing with my own butt when I jive around in the water trying to get stuff loose from that stupid ring, particularly when buried under doubles. It would be nice to know what well-thought out solution has been offered, becuz even if it means putting in a stainless steel foreskin ring, it might be simpler and less painful than using that stupid buttring. It's not just becuz GI says it's okay, but if he says so, he'll have a helluva reason why.

Praise George (if he has an answer)
