REEF Surveyer/Involved in GAFC

I've been reading on the REEF website (www.reef.org) lately and I was just wondering if anyone has been involved in the Annual Great American Fish Count or is an ongoing surveyer volunteer for REEF...what have your experiences been with it? Would you suggest participation in the project?

Actually CBulla is organizing a REEF ID class the weekend of Oct 2-3. http://www.scubaboard.com/t65330-reef-id-class---posponed-to-october-2&3.html
You don't have to take a class to count fish, just join Reef. But then, since the class is being offererd, why not??

There are a few fish counters on this site, embarassingly, I have only done a couple, its easy and fun.
