My wife and I are looking for a dive, dive, dive vacation. Our first choice is CCV, but they are full on the dates that we need. The RHR has good reviews on this site and Trip Advisor. Shore diving @ CCV is easy and good. How does RHR compare? Without the Prince Albert of course! Is Nitrox offered there? Any info, advise or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I was at FHR Feb7-14th and loved it. If you are there to dive, dive, dive then this is the place. As you have read accomodation is basic but clean and nothing but the sound of the sea. I did three dives a day and did not have the energy to dive much more. One member of the group did one shore dive and said it was not bad. The reef is close but a bit of a learning experience to get out and back. No Nitrox. Davitt is very good at finding the reef creatures. I spent the next week in the West End at a very nice resort but overall I found the diving experience better at the RHR. I cannot compare it to CCV however the shore diving there looks easier. I liked the layed back unpretentious atmosphere of the RHR. Any more info please send PM

Me and my wife are heading to to reef house in May for 15 days. I checked around and could not find any bad reveiws for then. I called down and they are very nice to work with give me discount for staying longer. The Air has realy dropped from SEA to RTB. When are you heading down.

It is a nice guest video of RHR. It was done by our fellow diver/videographer Dave White of our Scuba 2000/SUCI group. Our group has gone almost every year for the last 5 years, but last week was the first time I joined them.

We had a super time at RHR. The reef was healthy and colourful, we saw more large and small critters than I thought we would see. Daveet is great at finding all kinds of critters. The food was great. Larry and Carol were awesome, so much fun. Please note, however, that Larry and Carol are not usually there, they now live in Vegas. Mike, the co-owner, is normally there and is there now. I haven't met Mike, who is normally there, so not sure what he's like.

RHR is secluded on a little caye off Roatan. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday (unless you're with a rowdy group of 14 like ours) where the main entertainment is diving, RHR is the place. A water taxi (like our dive boat) is required to get over (10 minutes) to Roatan, and they arrange a taxi for the day/afternoon to get to Coxen Hole, West End and/or West Bay for shopping/sightseeing. They can also arrange tours for ziplining, the spa, etc. The one stipulation is that they require that all guests return to the water taxi by 5:45 PM, so no evening forays onto Roatan are possible. They say that this is because the crossing is dangerous at night.

There is no nitrox at RHR. However, Larry has rented nitrox tanks from another dive shop for a guest if really, really wanted.

Hope that helps. ;)

That should not be a determining factor. Dives from this area, even if you do 4 and five in a day, are best done shallow- that's where the good stuff is in this zone. Nitrogen loading is all but irrelevant. Skip the nitrox- not needed.

Hey RoatanMan,

I was just answering the OP's question about whether nitrox is available, not whether it's necessary.
Our DM-led dives were mostly between 60 - 100 feet deep. Most of us were perfectly happy to dive with air.
