Is there a decent map of the Vetrans Park dive site in redondo which shows the nav lines, monument and other stuff?

I have been doing some night dives there lately and just going out from the stairs by the restroom/showers and parking lot. I have joined other dives and had cool tours of small rock piles and other junk, I just don't know where they are.......

The most life seems to be between the middle stairs and the restroom. Trash and bits of algae hold lots of nudibranchs, amphipods, octopus and small fish.

Thanks for the info. I guess we will go down and hang a right tonight and see what happens.

Chris Gini made the first map and laid the first set of lines. You may be able to get it from him, but all the headings have changed. Hell, a line I put in due west from the "salad bowl" out to 100FSW maybe a year ago is almost NW now. Stupid sand.

Andy Huber and some of his current students (Stewart Tanner, Tobias Enhus, Tobin George, maybe some others - sorry if I overlooked anyone) have been attempting to fix the existing lines (i.e. return them to their headings on Gini's map) as well as adding to them (connecting to mine, for example). You can contact him via Ocean Adventures.

I don't have a map (see Blackwood's post), but I must say, my favorite area is the "salad bowl" (just off the middle stairs; follow the line down, then head left--south-- once you hit 60'). Tons of nudis, octos, sharks, crabs, lobsters, fish, etc in that area.

MaxBottomtime, nice map. I'd like to get together with you sometime. I know you're busy with your private trips and I see for good reason. We're going nearly as much and for the same unique and interesting ordeals. Get back with me and maybe we can arrange for some outings. thanks. Brian

Looks like I will have to find the salad bowl.

Last nights dive got a little interesting before we even got into the water. I showed up and the entire parking lot was closed, including the parking next to the water. It turns out they were shooting a movie or tv show or something and had their big rigs in the lot.

So I ended up going over to a group of guys and asking if we could have a few spots in the back to go diving. The head guy was there and said sure no problem. A light rain started a little before getting in the water, with 1-2' surf. A decent dive with good vis and no surge below about 30'. At 80' we saw a group of 5-6 small octopus spread over a small area.

Did not spend much time down there as I was turning into a popsicle in my wet suit. Vis was probably around 15-20' below 30'. Suref was a litlle larger coming out 2-3', but not bad at all. And of course it was raining off and on as we changed and packed up.
