I did two dives in Laguna despite the Red Tide this last week. 0 Viz in the Arch at Shaw's Cove, but viz opened up to about 15-20' at the end of the reef structure.

Later that same night, I dove Deadman's Reef (North Cresent Bay) and viz was good beyond the Red Tide, 20-30'.

I had friends that went out last night at Deadman's/ Seal Rock and reported that the Viz was holding. So...get out there and dive! See for yourself.

Those of you going to Farnsworth, see you all later on the boat!

There was a HORRIBLE red tide at Huntington/Seal Beach area today. Any diving around that area count out. Went to the beach with my dog and you couldn't see anything except the hundreds of red jellys that invaded the area. Tried to go surfing and ran into too many. Good luck for anyone that tries.

Red tide was really thick yesterday at El Matador State Beach. Viz was about 2-3ft on the surface. It opened up to about 10ft of viz on the bottom.

Only small patches of red tide were visible in Laguna Beach yesterday. We saw one small patch at Woods Cove, but it was gone after our hour long dive.

Laguna Sea Sports doesn't mention Red Tide at all today. Could it be going away?

Davee:
hows the vis at malibu? is there significant red tide there?

Went diving at Malibu Dr. last Sunday 08/07/05 with Melvin. This is the first time I've seen red tide. Thanks to Melvin's diving experience, we were able to spot the direction of the red tide and was able to avoid it for the most part. However, visibility (7ft vis MAX) was definitly affected by it.
