I just did my weekly flight out of LAX. The plane took off from 24L (north side of LAX) went about 30 miles off shore and then made a sweeping left turn and came back over land right over Newport Beach. I had a great view of the ocean from Santa Monica, out to Catalina and all the way down to Laguna. There were brown blotches everywhere. Pretty ugly. Catalina Island area looked fine. There was a big brown blotch outside Crescent bay and Venice up as far as I could see towards Malibu looked really bad. Could not get a good look at Redondo or PV since I was on the left side of the plane, but the beach right off El Segundo/LAX looked pretty bad.

Crap! Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap!

CRAP!

I'm really sick of this red tide.

Right with you...

Hopefully the waters will start to cool soon, and it will all go away...

Here's a pic of Pebble Beach which is a few mins north of Monastery... No red tide, just some blue-green water and kelp! I didn't get a chance to dive, but really hope to one day! They say the canyon is just a rock throw from shore down to 200 feet or more...10,000 feet at its deepest... Makes LJ canyon look shallow :)

I think the temps will take care of the red tide... I hope so anyway!! Enjoy the bioum!!
