As I am thinking about a trip to the Red Sea in May or June of 2008, I am looking for liveaboard feedback. I will be traveling alone and would like to find out about liveaboards that would be suitable for a single woman traveler.

I was on the Palau Aggressor in May of 2007 and enjoyed the liveaboard experience.

Thanks,

Vanessar

Hiya

I have been on six Red Sea liveaboards and three times I was travelling alone. I never had any problems but you will need to expect to share a cabin if the boat is full. Last time I was lucky and got a cabin all to my self. I can highly recommend Grand Sea Serpent or any of the other boats offered by Tony Backhurst Scuba. Tanyas,

Thanks so much for your reply.

Yes I know that cabin sharing is a possibility if the boat is full as I had to share on the Aggressor. I will look at the Tony Blackhurst boats and let you know if I have additional questions.

You could also check out Blue O Two (www.blueotwo.com) and the Emperor fleet (www.emperordivers.com). I think both even do (or are looking at doing) women-only trips, which might be something you'd want to consider.

You shouldn't have any issues on any of the liveaboards operating in the Red Sea, and all the operators mentioned run some very nice boats.

In fact, I am off on the Tony B boat in December, and then a Blue O Two vessel in July 2008!

MarkUK,

Thanks for the info. I will look at these operators. I am not necessarily looking for an all woman trip but will give this consideration.

Great info here. Can anyone tell me if there are Red Sea Liveaboards for weekends, rather than the whole week? Thanks.

Hi, I just returned from a week on a BlueoTwo liveaboard in the Red Sea.

Great crew and guides on board. The food on board was great. If the boat isn't full, you will likely get your own cabin. However, if it is full, they will pair you with another woman.

blueFIN and blueHorizon are very similar boats. It looks like they are redesigning Meloday but not sure when that happens. The guide on my boat said that May/June/July are great times to do the southern itineraries in the Red Sea. I'm thinking about doing another trip in May/June 2008 if I can.
