I often see red filters for cameras and video cameras advertized. I don't think they are a good idea - basically, these filters correct only for one level of red light absorption, and that can change massively with depth, visibility, and sunlight. I argue the point in more detail on my blog. I think software-aided red correction is much more useful and produces better effects. A little bit of post-processing is inevitable in underwater photography, in my opinion.
