Rick Murchison, and all,

You are absolutely right! Your wording was correct and concise! When people dive while under the influence of drugs, two things occur:

(1) It helps to sanitize the gene pool!

and,

(2) We get free gear when we recover their stuff!

The thing we need to remember is this. If we know someone is preparing to dive while under the influence of drugs we need to stop them. If we cannot stop them, we need to stay away from them. We also need to make the decision then that when they get in trouble, we will NOT risk ourselves to help them.

We can, after all, afford to lose people who consciously CHOOSE TO BE STUPID!!! We cannot afford to lose decent, intelligent people trying to save the stupid ones!

Good posts, all,

1. No doubt about these persons sanitizing the gene pool.

2. I'm alway in on a little free equipment....however, I'd have to draw the line on free gear that came off someone who's demise was caused by another who was "enjoying recreational drugs while diving."

Regards,

That's cool. I wouldn't. :D

Will y'all please tell your next of kin that you want your gear to go to SeaJay from Scubaboard when you're dead? I'd really appreciate it. :D

I once had a buddy that I rode motorcycles with... I'm not kidding... He'd randomly go up to people and say, "Can I have your tires when you die?" He raced, and since he went through the expensive rubber hoops about every other week, it was actually a serious proposition. The question always made the other riders slow down, though.

You'd be surprised how many sets of tires he got every year... At least a dozen.

So... Can I have your tanks when you die? Your regs? I'd really appreciate it.

And it may sound morbid, but no, I'm not kidding.
