Whoah! I have no idea what you just typed!

I think, and this is just my interpretation is that along with other thoughts he was referring to another diver's axiom. That being that most problems are best solved on the bottom. If nothing truly threatening was occurring the OP could have halted the dive and worked with his buddy to get the mask to behave and sort out whatever else was amiss. This would have been a learning opportunity for considerable Underwater communicative and who knows what else.

It's equally easy to side with ,"when in doubt get out" which is what happened. The important thing is that he was an observant buddy and took action.

1) Nobody got hurt
1) All of the gear came back
3) Something was learned
It was a good dive.

I'm sure each diver gained some insight in processing this experience.

Really appreciate the input guys a bit of a draft for an instructional manual I'm working on. Just have to figure out what the subject will be. Going to the computer machine people this week to see how the translation to other languages software is going just in case it's a bestseller. Cheers.

Forgive me for being critical but are you being serious? Please tell me that the "instructional manual" will have proper paragraphs and construction of sentences - unlike this for instance:

I should think he is most certainly not serious. The part where he is unsure of the subject matter for this already drafted instruction manual is kind of a big neon sign for me...:D
