Anyone recently stay at Ocean point Suites? Read some reviews on Trip Advisor and they ranged from "roach motel" to just fine. Would appreciate any information.

We stayed there for a week last July. First, the accomodations are good, spacious, well thought out, and having a washer/more so a dryer was NICE.

The rooms were clean, and well accomodated with DVD player, TV, full kitchen, bath with jacuzzi bath sized tub, and the resort had a couple pools, tennis, and a lot of other ammenties that are above and beyond other resorts. They also had a boat launch, and boat parking, but I have zero clue about how well that works out for most.

The strange thing for us was that there was no maid service, and the rooms were lacking towels, TP, dishsoap (both dishwasher/hand), which were suppose to be supplied. When we went to request these items we basically got the run around, and they finally showed up with the stuff several hours later, like 9pm and we checked in at 4pm.

Good thing we were not having to do #2, or we would have used what few towels we had. :11doh: Kinda strange behavior for such a nice resort. Another anoying aspect was that the continental breakfast was not served until after we had to leave to dive. I can not remember at this time what time that was, but annoying that a resport that caters to divers/fisherman would not make their breakfast available on time for us to actually use that service.

We were very happy otherwise (well the balcony was the size of a bath towell), and will stay there again. However it's definately a condo style, owner resort (people own these units, not the resort), and they definately don't go out of the way to spend $$$ on guest services.

Still a good value IMO, and very clean and nice if not well managed from a guest services standpoint.

Wellsaid frank, it is a " Owners Resort " , and yes, they don't put much back into it. But It's the most bang for your buck for us. We fit 4-6 diver's in there 2 bedroom unit, one the ocean confortabley.

We have it rented for this June and I have personally spoken with the owners. They are divers and use this condo themselves when they go down to Key Largo. It cam recommended by Brenda at Conch Republic who gave it higher marks than the Ocean Points Suites.

Thanks for the info everyone. We just scheduled a stay at ocean pointe for early may and couple of dives with Conch Republic. We found the information here to be very helpful. Will provide an update after the trip.

Sweatin' a little reading these posts, but it seems we made a good choice when choosing Ocean Pointe as the hotel for the INVADE THE KEYS WEEKEND in July.

Nothing to sweat, it's a nice place over all, we go back over and over. We stayed in just about every place in key Largo down through Marathon, even camping many times at John Penny Camp, and launching our boat outta there, main thing is , your in the Key's, and your diving !! Have fun :)

Have stayed at Ocean Pointe numerous times and will continue to return. What we have learned is to use a Realtor (Schwartz Property Sales /Property Management who works directly with the owners. We have a unit we like and have returned to it many times. --
