Greetings :),
I have a holiday planned for the next couple of weeks in the whitsundays. While I was there I was planning on going scuba diving. However the last couple of weeks I have been getting nose bleeds (on dry land).

A friend who is a nurse told me diving might not be a good idea as I might get an embolism and wind up what is known in the nursing trade as T.S. BUNDY (Totally Stuffed But Unfortunately Not Dead Yet).

do you think it would be ok to dive ???

Cheers

No diving for you. Snorkel. If there are no symptoms in the next week or so, contact your physician (one who is informed on dive medicine).

What's the reasoning, from a medical/physiological point of view? And I'm not talking about his potential ability to attract certain cartilaginous fishes

Where are you? Completing your Profile makes it easier to understand you.

And why are you having nose bleeds? Have you seen a physician? Nose blleds are not normal, so it could be prudent to do so. Once the cause is determined, and cured, then maybe it'll be fine.

Nose bleeds are common to new divers at the end of a dive, but your deal is totally different. We don't have enough information.

Or, call Divers Alert Network and discuss this with a medic there. Ph 1=800-446-2671. Maybe do that while you're waiting to get to see a doctor.
