Coming down in a few weeks to dive with Scuba Luv. Trying to figure out what protection to bring. Would love to hear from folks who have been in the water lately around the island. Is it 80 degrees yet? :14:

Thanks

Mark

Has Catalina's water ever gotten to the 80s??? LOL

Seriously...I've heard temps being in the mid- to high-50s.....DrBill may be able to confirm this...

We had 52 degrees at Catalina on Sunday, March 12.

Sat and Sunday 55 at all depths (40 fsw - 105 fsw) in the Dive Park.

Yes, the highest I've heard was 81 surface temperature off the East End. Remember free diving during the 1982-83 El Nino. Toasty (for SoCal). We would stay in the water for over 2 hours without a wetsuit. We'd be blue, too.

Current temps: Mininum I've had was 51, both at extreme depth and at 60 ft. Temps in the Park ranging 53-57 for the most part depending on depth and any upwelling.

we had 48 near blue caverns last week
