Recalibrating Cobalt’s Compass?

I wonder if other dive computer brands have the same problem with their compasses??? I guess you are screwed if the compass gets confused and you are on a steel-hull liveaboard.

I don't know how many have a full 360° compensation, certainly any doing so and using this same chip would see the same problem. Newer chips we have tested seem to have resolved this issue. I think you could calibrate OK an a steel boat if you could find a non-ferrous surface at least several feet away from lots of metal. Proximity seems to count for more than mass. In the meantime I think the best thing we can do is to make the six point calibration available in the normal menu structure through a firmware update, so there is an easy fix if it gets knocked off.
