I just bought a TransPac II with the Rec Wing and will be diving with a single tank (for now at least). I have little experience with it so please bear with me :-)

There are 3 grommets where the end of the bungee can be attached to, effectively loosening or tightening the bungee on the inside of the wing. By factory, it was attached to the middle grommet. Would loosening or tightening the bungee have much effect on trim or dumping the air? I don't believe the bungee could to too tight as to prevent the full inflation of the wing using the power inflator. It might require a little more effor if inflated orally.

Also with the weight pockets on the side of the TransPac, would you find it easier with all the weights in the pockets or adding some tank weights to reduce the side weights? I dive with about ~20-22lbs when wearing a full 7mm wet suit in fresh water and 12lbs in warm salt water with a 2mm wet suit.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Leave the bungees as originally placed for single-tank diving. The Rec wing has more than enough lift as is--it is designed to also be used for doubles with the bungees removed.

Place weights so as to give you good trim in the water and ability to be vertical when at the surface. Best to have the weights distributed, such as 6 or 8 lbs. on a weight belt, 4 or 6 lbs. on the tank, and the rest in weight pockets on the harness. You'll have to play with this to find what you like best--but have them divided so that if a belt or pocket accidentally falls out you don't lose too much ballast!

I use the Rec wing for my cold-water single-tank diving and love it!

Good luck with doubles and the TPII.....personally I think you would have been better off with the TransPlate for doubles.

I dont use any tank weights and find that when I moved my wieght pouches as far back on the belt as possible...right up against the plate....the trim was perfect. Yet, I can still reach the weights IF I should ever have to dump them. Something about weights you cant dump (tank) that bothers me.

Thanks guys, I'm getting some good ideas, keep them coming. I think I'm going to be going out this weekend to a fine tune my weights.

When you surface dont over inflate the wing. That way you wont be pushed over.....and my rec has a tendency to do that if i give her the air.
