I've been looking around at watches to accompany me while freediving. The problem being is that I have a regular watch, which does the timing of the dive just fine, but would really love to know the depth.

There are some casio watches that do this, but 500 is too high of a price. The Timex Helix DM was just what I was looking for, but is discontinued. Are there any watches out there know that are relatively cheap and can measure depth?

Uwatec Bottom Timer. It does depth, time, and temp. I think it is what your looking for. They are about $150 new but I just picked up a used one for $50.

The citizen hyperaqualand and the aqualand duplex are nice watches that also record bottom time, depth and a few other items. They are pretty affordable and a nice looking watch.

The Aeris manta is also an affordable full function computer at about the same price that will do what yuo need it to. Some of the Aeris computers also feature a free diving mode.

If you look around the web you can still find the Timex Helix DM pretty easily, and at prices cheaper then what they previously sold for.

There is a Swatch watch that does this. I think it's called Fun Scuba, or something like that. It's not intended as a primary dive instrument but makes a nice backup, and reads depth and elapsed time when under water. I think it was around $80 when I saw it.

The Casio ARW-320 still comes up on eBay regularly for $50-$100. Depth, altimeter, barometer, alarm, timers, analog face with digital window. Ultra hard crystal. My favorite all round watch for 15 years. User-replaceable batteries. Very nice looking watch with yellow or orange buttons. Low profile.
