Hi all - can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, decent hotel, B&B, or anything else in St. Thomas around the weekend of January 11th? We need space for 4 adults, so 2 hotel rooms or a 2 room suite.

Also, while you're reading this, how's the diving there, and what else is there to do for non divers?

Thanks, trig

Try the Best Western Emerald Beach. It's close to the airport, but far enough away so it shouldn't be too noticeable. Probably can't book any of the hotels in town this late. Bluebeards Castle is pretty nice if they have rooms. It's on the hill above town but you can walk down to downtown or the Havensight Mall (cruise port) area.

You could also probably find something in the Sapphire Beach area past Red Hook but there's not much else to do there except the beach, watersports and a small restaurant/shop area by American Harbor. Chris Sawyer's dives out of Red Hook also. Right next to their office is Molly Malone's, a great Irish pub/restaurant right on the waterfront. For local culture try Coki Beach.

We did a couple dives with the onsite diveop at Sapphire Beach Resort out to Grass Cay. It's shallow diving but the bottom is pretty much covered with something.

If you did stay out by Red Hook, there's a ferry from American Harbor to St. John regularly where non-divers could find something to do. Or it's 20mins. back to Charlotte Amalie.
