actually this is a symptom of the NiMH battery being stored empty or partially depleated.

try this (it may take several 4-5 cycles) to recover the battery or it may be spent

1)charge the battery till the charger switches over to trickle charge
2)unplug and wait 30 seconds or so and plug it back in and charge again
3) sumerge in a bucket of water and turn on the light until it burns out (do not turn off) note burn time
4) repeat 1-3 until you are within an acceptable limit for the battery for you, remember the battery pack will loose its ability to hold a charge with age and misuse.

How do I know if its a brightstar bulb? If its not, can I change it? If so, how and where do I buy the bulb? Google isnt helping :(
