My old (10-15 years) Dacor BC power inflator hose has detached (pulled out) from the bladder. Bladder vinyl seems good and reusable. I have unscrewed and disassembled the plastic ring that goes around the bladder opening. There was some thick material (probably for stress relief and gasket) that had dried up between the plastic rings.

Seems that a vinyl repair kit (for above ground pools) would be the right adhesive to use? Perhaps shower pan material would be good to replace the thick gasket?

Has anyone done a repair like this?
Can someone recommend how to re-attach inflator hose to the bladder, and what materials to use?

Let it go man. It's time.

:-)

I agree, and I'd I'd like to, but the kids are yelling feed-me ... feed-me ... buy me expensive electronic toys (that they will be ungrateful for). No budget left for me to play :(

Some of those attachments screw together and others are "welded". Sounds like yours was welded and I'm not sure how well glue will work. I think I would try aquaseal or a quality rubber cement for glue rather than a vinyl pool repair kit. Another option (that leaves you an alternative - back to the glue) would be to find a screw in fitting that will fit. Measure the hole and start shopping. Diverite express has the smallest I have seen and it fits a hole 1" in diameter. My Seaquest and Scubapro BC have welded connectors so It may not be easy shopping for a screw-in of the right size.

Good luck

Thanks AWAP,

Mine is a screw together type. Do you glue it, or do you just let the screw compression make the seal?

The kids can eat rice and beans. It will prepare them for college. ;)

No glue. Just screw it back together. The problem usually is that there is an inner T-nut and an outer piece that screw together establishing the connection mechanism on the BC and then an outer ring that screws in holding the elbow or dump valve. If the outer connection gets too tight and you try to unscrew it, the inner connection gets more torque force than the outer and it wants to come apart there. A good LDS might have the tools (wrenches) for tightening them properly.

If you can't find a replacement rubber washer, you should be able to fashion one out of a piece of inner tube.

If you stop by a good-sized SCUBA shop, they might even have the right part, and could just fix it.

You can't feed the kids when your home repair fails @ depth.

Why not???

If you believe a BCD failure could be catestrophic, you might want to get out the golf clubs.
